Debate Mate -AI-　released (English)

This is my first blog update in a year.

I don't want rumors of my death to start coming out anytime soon, so I'm writing this article.

AI has been progressing so quickly recently that I have no idea what the future holds.

A year ago, it was just a piece of crap that could generate things like "illustrations of people eating ramen with their hands."

What I'm releasing this time is a debate app that uses ChatGPT's API, "Debate Mate -AI-".

Self-made tool "Debate Mate -AI-"

This software is a tool for holding debates by calling the OpenAI ChatGPT API.

To use this software, you will need to register an OpenAI account and obtain the API's "Project API KEY"."

Please note that there is a fee for using the API, and you will be charged as you go depending on the API usage.

This is shareware. The trial period is 20 days from the first time you launch the app. If you would like to continue using the app, please register for JPY 500yen.

【Prerequisites】
- Registered an OpenAI account
- Issued "Project API KEY"

This app uses two GPTs, GPT-A and GPT-B, for the debate.
If only one GPT was used, the GPT itself would play the role of moderator and multiple roles, resulting in the scenario prepared by the GPT.

Therefore, please assume that the token usage by the API is twice as much as usual.

【Installation】
No installation is required. Install it in the desired location and launch DebateMate.exe.

【Uninstallation】
Delete the folder.

【How to Use】
1. Launch DebateMate.exe.

1. Click “Enable KEY Editing”.

2. Enter your Project API KEY. Then click “Disable KEY Editing”.
   (These values will be saved in an .ini file and reused next time.)

3. Set the Debate Theme and an optional kickoff prompt or question.
   Example:
   Theme: Dogs vs Cats – Which do you prefer?
   Prompt: Let’s discuss which is better and why.

4. Enter display names for GPT-A and GPT-B.
   Example:
   GPT-A: Dog Lover
   GPT-B: Cat Lover

5. Set personal traits/stances for each agent.
   (These define their debate position and personality.)
   Example:
   GPT-A:
   - Loves dogs
   - Lives in a house
   GPT-B:
   - Prefers cats
   - Lives in an apartment

6. Choose API Version (for advanced users).
   Recommended: GPT-5.2.
   You can experiment by giving different models to each agent.

7. Adjust temperature and top_p (for advanced users):

   • Temperature controls creativity/randomness:
     - Low (e.g., 0.3): logical and consistent
     - High (e.g., 0.9): diverse and creative, but possibly erratic

   • top_p controls how many response candidates are considered:
     - Low: focused answers
     - High: more variation

Tip: Don’t set both too high at the same time—responses may become incoherent.

1. Click “Start Debate”.

2. Click “Continue Debate” to proceed to the next speaker.
   - GPT-A and GPT-B take turns.
   - You (the user) may interject by entering a message and selecting the target (GPT-A or GPT-B).

3. Click “End” to close the app.
   - Click “Save Log” to export the discussion in rich text format.
   - Click “Clear” to reset the session.

【Other Features】
Accessible via the Settings Menu:
- Fonts & Colors: Customize fonts and background.
- Language: Switch between Japanese and English interface.
- Avatar Images: Double-click the avatar to replace it. Use 64×64 PNG images. Default images are in the 'images' folder.

【License Information】
The trial period is 20 days from the first time you launch the software.
After the trial period expires, the "Start Debate" feature will become unavailable.
Please thoroughly test the software during the trial period and ensure your satisfaction before purchasing. (Refunds are not available.)

For users who have downloaded the full version:
Please open the tool, go to License > Register Key at the top menu to open the registration window.
Enter the registration key number found in the enclosed RegistKey.txt file, then click the Register button to complete the activation.
